Dhaka is a thriving, colourful and bustling metropolis of about 18 million people, one of the largest cities in the world. Having a colossal historical background, the old part of the city, known as Old Dhaka or Old Town, is home to a broad range of architectural heritage starting from the vestiges of the Mughal Empire. Built in the 16th century, Bara Katra and Chota Katra are two of the oldest Mughal-Era structures in Dhaka. Although dilapidated, these remains of the palace of monumental dimensions will give you a glimpse to the golden-era of the Mughal Empire. Other famous sights in Dhaka include the Lalbagh Fort, Ahsan Manzil Palace, and the hundreds of colourful rickshaw that roams about the city.
